Varieties specialist Gene Paquette listed these coil color shades in his U.S. catalog (2001):  (for shiny gum) brown, deep brown; (for dull gum) reddish brown, deep brown.  (The next illustration is of two coil pairs scanned together, chosen to show typical dark-brown and reddish-brown shades on shiny-gum coils.)

 
 
Bonus 1-25.  Color study of two mint 13c coil pairs, both with shiny gum.  (The next illustration is a pair of used booklet stamps scanned together, chosen to show a similar typical range of shades.)
 
 
Bonus 1-26.  Color study of two used 13c booklet singles.  Interestingly, varieties specialist Gene Paquette's U.S. catalog (at least my 2001 edition) did not list any color varieties for booklets, even though he listed several for the coils (noted for Bonus 1-24).  These used examples seem adequately "undisturbed" for noticing color differences; in contrast, see the mint examples, next.
 
 
Bonus 1-27.  Color "study" of three mint 13c booklet singles.  Just another example of how challenging color studies can be; two of these stamps are definitely not candidates for any color-shade examples.   While the xxxxx
